Some thoughts about this image: This is my homework for a UF class. I was asked to show the movement in an image and I immediately thought of something more delicate than "Fire and Ice". I wanted to create a fluctuating shape, soft and ethereal. After some tries I gave up because what I was getting was too smooth and the sense of movement not so strong. So I decided to distort some sinusoidal waves to emphasize the movement itself, I zoomed in, trying to crop the image in a way that the waves could be similar to a flowing river (extending them out the edges of the image). When changing the gradient, I realized that I couldn't use smooth variations of colors so I had to choose just a few solid colors and I went with blue, light blue, black and white. I liked when the light colors were in the distance but the black tended to be always in the front, and this made the image too dark for me. I applied some masks to partially remove the black areas and replace them with one which had brighter colors. I thought red/yellow could be ok and... there came the idea of "creating" a lava river making its way through an almost frozen river. I want to dedicate this Fractal Work to my Friend Comments
